The Hero of Your Story
We all live in suspense, from day to day, from hour to hour, in other words, we are the hero of your own story ~ Mary McCarthy
Have you laid out a path for yourself? Do you know what you need to do to reach your goals? Then stay stay on that path!
The awesome thing about my dream journey is that I am in control. The harder I work, the more I can accomplish. There's no one telling me what to do and reaching my goals is totally dependent upon myself. It's the path I've laid out for myself.
What have you done lately to stay on your path?

Asking Why
One of the greatest stories of growing older is the willingness to ask why and, getting no good answer, deciding to follow my own inclinations and desires. Asking why is the way to wisdom ~ Anna Quindlen
Have you asked for advice and then didn't like what was given? Sometimes that drives me crazy when friend and family ask for advice and do the opposite. But when it comes to your dream journey, sometimes following your own inclinations and desires is the best route to follow.
On Thursday, I posted about being vulnerable and the benefits to your art. That I think is what is meant by the way to wisdom: the wisdom to ask why in the first place.
When was the last time you asked a question but didn't like the response?

The Perfect Opportunity
I realized that my circumstances, while causing me despair and heartbreak, also held great possibility. If only I could see it. I knew that I was learning one of the most important lessons of my life: that instead of waiting for the perfect opportunity, I should work towards a realization that every opportunity is perfect. Each moment is perfect and heaven-sent, in that each moment holds the seeds for growth. Difficulty creates the opportunity for self-reflection and compassion ~ Susan-Lori Parks
Are you waiting for the perfect time to start your dream journey? Are you waiting to find the perfect opportunity that is going to be you ticket to a fulfilling career and lifelong happiness? There is no time like the present to get started.
When I decided to quit smoking in 1997, it was a New Year's resolution. I knew that work would be crazy in January and February, so I did decide to wait until March when I knew things would calm down. But then March came and went that year and work never slowed. It was April before I realized that. When I realized it was April and work hadn't slowed down, I decided to quit smoking anyway.
There is no time like the present to follow your dreams. I can always make excuses why today is not a good day to work on my dreams, but if I did that every day, I wouldn't be getting ready to publish my first novel.
I'd love to hear about a time when you started project even though life seemed busy.

For Art and For Life
I had to be strong enough to allow myself to be vulnerable. Great lesson. For art and for life ~ Jane Lynch
I hate the expression "It's not personal, it's business." I've poured my heart and soul into nearly every project or team that's been successful. And that's the way it's been with my dream goals.
When you're following a dream journey, many times you need other peoples' help. If you're in direct sales, you need hosts and team members. If you're trying to get published, you need at least one editor who understands your work enough to take a chance on you.
When was the last time you had a vulnerability moment?

One Stone at a Time
The best way to move a mountain is one stone at a time. Nothing is insurmountable if you take one step before you take the next ~ Ed and Deb Shapiro
I remember doing a group interview for a job and once of the interviewers asked me, "How do you move mountains?" My answer was, "One stone at a time."
Whenever you have a daunting task ahead, dream goal or otherwise, it's always easier to break things down into smaller steps and goals. Even when I quit smoking, I celebrated all my little milestones: each day until it was a week. Each week until it was a month. Then one month became three, three became six, six became nine, and finally I was celebrating my first year smoke free. I just just celebrated sixteen years smoke free.
I recently went through this exercise with my manuscript, Disappear with Me. I want it ready for submission in June. I counted the weeks until then and the number of pages left to edit. I now have a daily and weekly goal of pages that need editing to have the manuscript ready for submission in June.
Tell me about time you had a big goal and how you broke it down?

From Our Hearts to Your Kitchen: Easy French Dip Sandwiches
Today, I am launching our new Foodie Blog!
Whenever I post what we're making for dinner on Facebook, Twitter, and other places, I'm always asked about the recipe. Somethings are real easy to post, others are a bit more complicated. This is my answer to that.
Another good reason for this blog: I have recipes all over the place. This will be a great place to capture our favorite recipes and always be able to find them, whether we're looking for ingredients for a shopping list or the directions to make dinner.
Enjoy!
